Heatwave!
What a hot summer we’ve been having! In the heat, coming to your mat may feel like the last thing you want to do but yoga can provide some relief. It’s all in ‘the how’ of the practice. Choosing cooling, calming postures like resting inversions, lying twists and supported forward folds we move our bodies without creating excess heat. Moving slowly and mindfully keeps our minds calm and grounded. Taking time for savasana allows us to cool into stillness. Following a pitta balancing diet full of moist cooling foods, think watermelon and zucchini, help us stay hydrated. Come to your mat to relax, to take a break from the crankiness, to restore after sleeping through too many heat interrupted nights, to bring yourself back to yourself.
