Integrative Yoga Therapy (IYT) combines the wisdom of Ayurveda (balancing your constitution, diet and lifestyle) and the practices of yoga (postural assessment, yoga postures, breathing practices, meditation techniques) to bring you back to your best balance. Whether you need to tweak what you eat, create an asana practice, learn to meditate or live with less pain…IYT provides a framework to build the life you want.

Learn to live more skillfully. IYT is a wholistic, personalized approach to yoga to meet the needs of the individual. The tools of yoga create multidimensional practices bringing dynamic balance to the physical, energetic, emotional, intellectual and spiritual layers of being. Yoga’s goal is to deepen client awareness and understanding of their journey.

What does a session look like? A gentle check-in to see where you are at in yourself followed by a body awareness practice that encourages breathing and relaxation. Some yoga postures to support your body. Appropriate breathing and meditation practice designed specifically for you. Some creative expression in the form of drawing, journaling, movement or sound maybe encouraged. Deep relaxation to promote well-being.

Some words you might encounter in a session:

kosha: 5 layers of being. Physical, energetic, mental/emotional, witness consciousness and spirit. True healing needs to encompass all five layers of being

chakra: energy centres within the physical body. Each chakra supports a physical system, is associated with an endocrine gland and nerve plexus. The chakra system is a wonderful road map to well being, helping us gain deeper insight into our issues.

pranayama: breathing practice

asana: yoga posture

mudra: gestures that support and facilitate the movement and felt sense perception of energy in the body and help stabilize the practice of meditation
